The following is a list of all licensed and registered child care and preschool programs in the City of Vancouver.
Listings are updated on a monthly basis. For a more personalized consultation

STATEMENT OF PARENTAL RESPONSIBILTY
Child Care Resource and Referral Program
The Child Care Resource and Referral Program is a support and referral service for families and child care providers. The names of the child care providers are provided to families by request and are in no way a recommendation of the service provided by the particular care provider. The parent(s) has the responsibility for ensuring that the child care arrangement ultimately chosen is suitable for the family’s needs.

The publication, Parent’s Guide to Selecting Care (available at http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/family-social-supports/caring-for-young-children/child-care), may help you choose suitable child care for your family.

TERMS OF USE
Use of the services of the Child Care Resource and Referral Program is voluntary. If a family chooses to use any of the services, the family expressly agrees:

  • to assume any and all risks involved in the selection of the child care arrangement,
  • that the Child Care Resource and Referral Program staff and the Board of Directors are not responsible for the choice of child care, and
  • that staff and the Board of Directors of the Child Care Resource and Referral Program are excluded from any and all liability for negligence arising in connection with the referral services provided, and/or the actions of any child care provider selected by the parent.

 

VANCOUVER CHILD CARE REFERRAL LISTS & MAPS

TYPE OF PROGRAM LIST MAP DEFINITION
Licensed Group Child Care/
Centre based program
     
Full-day care, infants and toddlers
under 3 years
PDF LINK Full day program; typically 12 children in a group;
one Educator for every 4 children;
Full-day care, ages 3 to 5 years PDF LINK Full day program; typically 25 children in a group;
one Educator for every 8 children.
Preschool, ages 3-4 years PDF LINK Part day program, 4 hours or less, often operating
during the school year. 20 children in a group and
a staff ratio of one educator to 10 children.
Before and/or after school,
ages 5 to 12 years
PDF LINK School age programs serve children who require
care outside of school hours. One adult with
minimum of 20 hours training per 10 children.
Multi-age, or mixed age program,
ages 0-12 years
PDF LINK Serves smaller groups of children,
typically 8 children in a group; one
Educator for each group of 8 children.
     
Licensed Family Child Care,
ages 0-12
PDF LINK Offered in the child care provider's own home;
serves a maximum of 7 children from birth to age 12.

Providers are registered with a Child Care
Resource and Referral Program; care for 2
children or a sibling group, not related to
them by blood or marriage, at any one time.
Registration means they have met a number
of provincial standards.
