ECE required for employment in our dynamic, rural daycare beginning by September.
Tree Frog Daycare in Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island is a small, rural nonprofit center with a homey feel, and an incredible outdoor playground full of trees, natural spaces, and gardening opportunities.

Our team is seeking a part to full time ECE (Infant/Toddler and/ or Special Needs License an asset.)This position is at a small daycare currently licensed for 4 Infant/Toddlers and 16 Preschool aged children which also provides inclusive care.
Ideal candidates for this position will:
- have knowledge, skill, and experience with running a multi-aged program, and feel confident in working both independently, and with an assistant, within ratio
- possess strong communication and collaborative skills
- be confident in program planning to meet the varied developmental needs of a group of children in an engaging and inclusive manner
- be seeking a role as a long term member of a teaching team
We are open year-round, Monday to Thursday, 8am-4pm except for statutory holidays, and two annual holiday closures: one week in the summer and two weeks over Christmas.
Additional Qualifications:
As we build our team, staff with an ECE or ECE Infant/Toddler License is required, and a Special Needs License an asset. This position is at a small daycare licensed for 4 Infant/Toddlers and 16 Preschool aged children which also provides inclusive care. As we are a small center, we encourage staff to be comfortable in both programs. ECEs with Infant/Toddler experience and related training may be considered.
ECEs, Assistants, and Subs will also be considered separately for employment on our team.
Current BC Early Childhood Education and/or Infant/Toddler Educator License to Practice is a must.
Current First Aid Certification required.
Current Criminal Record Check required
Special Needs Educator Licenses an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
Must be comfortable working in a multi aged group. Being a strong communicator open to respectful, collaborative teaching with fellow team members is a vital part of running a successful program in our center.
Salary & Benefits:
ECE starting wage is $22-24/hour, and $23-25/hour for ECE-IT. The $6/hour ECE Wage Enhancement will also be added for all qualifying staff.
Additionally, following a 90-day probation period, all staff will receive Health Spending Account benefits, paid sick time (4.8% accrual), professional development and first aid training coverage, and a staff discount of 35% for childcare. Support for additional related education may be considered, as will assistance in securing local housing.
