Early Childhood Educator
Additional Qualifications:
Criminal record checks, immunization records, first aid training, and willingness to obtain food safety certification are required. Our program requires all staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19, and flu vaccines are required yearly.
Required Experience:
We require full Early Childhood Educator certification and at least two year's experience in an early years setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Care and supervision of an adorable group of children aged 30 months to 5 years. Assisting the Management Team and Senior Educators to deliver an exceptional early education program. Candidates will receive a comprehensive job description prior to interviewing.
Salary & Benefits:
The salary for this position will be commensurate with certification level and experience. We are open to negotiation! The range is $20-23 per hour plus WE.
As part of our commitment to your growth as an Educator, you will have two Professional Development Days per year, one in the autumn and one in the spring. We bring in instructors to ensure you can complete the mandatory hours without encroaching on your personal time. First Aid and Criminal Record checks are reimbursed. Please let us know if you see additional Pro D courses that you feel will add to your practice!
Medical benefits through Manulife, which include prescription drug coverage, vision care, health (chiropractic, massage therapy, etc.), dental, life, disability, and critical illness insurance, are paid 100% after completing the three-month probationary period: four weeks of paid vacation, two at the end of December and two during summer. Paid professional development, two yearly professional development days, and reimbursement for first aid are part of the remuneration package. We also have a coffee/tea bar on site, and regular teacher appreciation treats such as dinner for staff meetings and cheesecake or Breka delivered on "those days."

Our exceptional, well-established program (first opened in 1967) for children aged 30 months to 5 years of age is seeking an Early Childhood Educator to join our team. We are located near the UBC Endowment Lands, easily accessible via transit (99B Line). Successful candidates will be hard-working, have an excellent command of both spoken and written English, have solid group management skills, and have a love for educating young children.
Our program stands out with its unique features. We offer a smaller-than-usual class size, which allows educators to interact more closely with the children. Additionally, we provide a range of extracurricular activities such as soccer, yoga, outdoor education, parkour, and musical theatre, which provides educators and children with an excellent opportunity to learn from the best instructors!
Kindly note that you MUST have full provincial certification as an Early Childhood Educator Basic at minimum, Special Needs and IT an asset but not required.
Duties include program planning, supervision of children during indoor and outdoor activities, and group times. We also share light housekeeping duties among staff members. We encourage and welcome our educators to bring their passions to the program. We will incorporate it into the curriculum if you love cooking, baking, or gardening. Our centre is pet-friendly, and we have had a daycare dog in the past. If you have a good pet around children, this is also an option.
