Additional Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of a strength-based approach and have a proven ability to build collaborative relationships. They will be skilled in effectively working with vulnerable newcomer families, engaging with diverse populations across various languages, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds. This individual must be able to work independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and demonstrating resourcefulness. Strong time management, organizational skills, and proficient written and verbal English communication are essential, with crisis line experience considered an asset.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
Required Experience:
The ideal candidate for this position must have a minimum of a Diploma in a related field or equivalent education and experience, along with at least 2 years of outreach experience addressing parent and family concerns. Ideal candidates will have specialized knowledge of newcomer immigrant and refugee communities and an understanding of trauma’s impact on families. A comprehensive knowledge of Early Years programs, Attachment Theory, and the Early Years Service Framework is essential, as well as awareness of the barriers faced by immigrant populations. Fluency in Punjabi language is an asset. A valid First Aid certificate, driver's license, and reliable vehicle are also required.

Guided by the Early Years Services Framework, you'll help create a welcoming, inclusive environment for families facing challenges. If you’re passionate about fostering community connections and enhancing the well-being of young children, we want you on our team!
Reporting to the Program Manager, our selected candidate will build trusting relationships with newcomer immigrant and refugee families, assisting them in navigating a network of support services tailored to their unique needs. You’ll conduct initial assessments, connect families with culturally safe resources in areas like child development and mental health, and coordinate visits with community service providers. By enhancing parenting knowledge and promoting healthy parent-child relationships, you will share culturally-responsive tools and provide practical supports to reduce stress. Additionally, you will facilitate transportation, conduct outreach in Surrey and Delta, engage in community events, and contribute to program reporting and evaluations for funders.
Salary & Benefits:
Wage: $26.90 per hour
Additional Notes:
This is a temporary full-time position from January 6, 2025, to March 31, 2025. Starting April 1, 2025, the position will transition to a temporary part-time role with 23 hours per week.
