Please join us in congratulating Pam Preston, Executive Director at Westcoast Child Care Resource Centre (WCCRC), on the announcement of her upcoming retirement in the spring of 2022. Pam’s retirement will bring to a close a remarkable career.  She began working at WCCRC in 1990 as the Coordinator of the Information Daycare program and after a number of other positions and responsibilities within the agency became its Executive Director in 2012.

Introducing our new podcast featuring interviews with child care advocates, government officials, policy makers, educators, parents and child care organisations in BC, exploring the move toward a universal child care system.

In our first episode, hosted by the incomparable Gyda Chud, our longstanding advocate and expert in child care and founding board member of Westcoast Child Care Resource Centre, we interview the Honourable Katrina Chen, Minister of State for Child Care. Gyda and Minister Chen chat about the benefits of a Universal Child Care System to many stakeholders, including parents, child care providers and ECE students.

Nadia's upcoming workshop will explore how Educators can bridge professional silos, address systemic racism and uphold diversity in empowering and inclusive ways.

Last week we learned about the family turned away from an unlicensed child care spot because the person offering care said  “I won’t take Chinese in”. This statement is blatantly hurtful to the family, to the child, and ultimately to society as a whole. We are constantly disturbed that such hate and fear exists within us towards people who are different from ourselves. We ask, what can we do?
